Monty Thomas Smith

The day we've been waiting for has arrived!

The cooking is over and Lisa and I have been blessed with a beautiful baby boy - Monty Thomas....He's a big lad, at 9lb 5oz and 54cm and with that in mind is testimony to Lisa who managed the delivery with no painkillers and in an almost world record 90 minutes or so (I think I'll have to write to the Guiness Book of Records). Monty seems to have extraordinarily large hands....something that I predict will help him play in Goal (soccer)...for Engand!

Monty was born at 9.35am on the 23rd August. Its still the 23rd and getting a bit late so I'll keep this one short. However, the important bits are that Lisa and baby are well and hopefully getting plenty of sleep....On his first day Monty has been very placid and well behaved...lets hope it continues. I can truly say that this was one of the most amazing experiences of my life and am feeling very proud, of both Monty and his amazing mother.

I have posted a couple of Day 1 pics and you can be sure that there will be plenty to follow.

Thanks for all of your kind messages :-)

Congrats Mummy & Daddy! He is smashing but looks tiny in Lisa's arms! How we wish we could be with you to give him big kisses & cuddles (& you guys of course!), but sadly unable to right now. Lisa you look amazing only hours after and what a lovely quick birth for your 1st. We're so proud of you both. Love Dad & Leigh

I love his name!!! Congratulations on the safe arrival of little Monty . . . or should I say BIG Monty. Holy Cow that long walk I did early this morning certainly helped things along hey? I had a bit of a fiddle around to see if I could see the pictures you sent but I can't see them? The kids are asleep but I bet they'll know how to view them so we'll look at them together in the morning. I'm not very clued up on this technology! By the way the kids were excited to hear the news this afternoon (GG phoned me this morning) and all agreed "that's a really cool name". John and I were amazed at what a quick labour it was. Just had a thought . . . how long do you think number 6 will take to make its entry into the world?!?! Well I'll just ponder on that thought as I head off to bed. . . Lots of love and heaps of hugs to go around all, we'll be in touch,
Ro XO
